What made me decide to pursue a career in early childhood education is that I have personally seen the joys and rewards that living a life in the field of education can bring. Both of my parents are educators and as far back as I can remember, I have been raised in an educational setting and it is an environment that I am familiar, comfortable, and both enjoy and embrace.
I have always looked up to and admired my parents and what they do for a living. Not only what they do for themselves, but what the do for the students they teach, and that one day I too will will be given the chance to pass on all of the knowledge and that which they have raised me with to others.
What I hope to learn this semester is to get a better grasp of the principles of education and learning so that I can build upon this foundation with my own personal approach to education (which is based primarily in the visual arts).
